How-to guide

Setting up your Group with the checklist

A new Group opens on a short checklist at the top of the dashboard instead of an empty page. Each step takes you to the page you would have found anyway, so nothing is typed twice, and you can leave and come back at any time.

  1. Work through the four steps

Your Group checks the name, contact email and nation. The nation sets the words used for sections and terms, so it is worth getting right first.

Sections adds the sections you run. Bring your people over imports young people from a spreadsheet or your previous system, or adds the first one by hand. Your team invites the other volunteers and gives each one a role.

A step is marked done when the information is in Scout Suite. You do not tick it yourself, and the bar at the top moves as you go.

  2. Skip what you do not need yet

Skip this step sets a step aside for now. A skipped step never stops you doing anything else, and every Group admin sees it as skipped. Bring this step back undoes that.

A step you skip is not counted as done, so the bar shows how much is really in place.

  3. Hide the checklist for good

Hide this for good removes the card for you. Other Group admins still see it until they hide it too. The card also goes on its own once every step is done or skipped.

Only Group admins see the checklist. Team members who are not admins do not see it at all.

  4. Bring it back from Settings

Under Settings, Show it on the dashboard brings the checklist back for you, even after you hid it. A Group that was set up before the checklist existed does not get it unless you ask for it this way.
