How-to guide
Patrols, sixes and lodges
Every section has its own small groups, and Scout Suite uses the section's own word for them: Dreys for Squirrels, Lodges for Beavers, Sixes for Cubs, Patrols for Scouts and Teams for Explorers.
Watch this on its own pageOpen the section's patrols
Open the section and choose its small groups from the menu, named the section's own way: Dreys for Squirrels, Lodges for Beavers, Sixes for Cubs, Patrols for Scouts and Teams for Explorers.
Add one and put someone in it
Type a name, choose Add, then add young people to it. A new one starts empty until you do. The list to add from only shows young people who aren't in one yet, so names drop off as you place them.
Rename them and put them in order
Rename changes a name in place. Move up and Move down put them in the order you want them listed, such as the order they sit around the room. New ones go at the end.
Give young people their roles
Pick a role for each young person next to their name. Cubs have a Sixer and Seconder, Scouts a Patrol Leader and Assistant Patrol Leader, and each section uses its own words. There's one of each per group, so choosing a new one moves the role across.
Members are listed the way they stand: the leader first, everyone else by surname, then the assistant.
Rebalance them
Once there are two or more, Rebalance suggests who to move. Even out by attendance aims for about the same number in each at a meeting, from the last six months of registers, moving as few young people as it can. Group by age puts similar ages together, in groups of the same size.
Nothing changes until you say so. Each move is listed with where they are now and where they'd go, and the table shows each group's size before and after. Untick any move you don't want, then Apply. Leaders and their assistants (a Sixer and Seconder, say) always stay where they are.
See patrols on the section list
Each young person's patrol also shows next to their name on the section's list, and you can sort that list by patrol. See Your section's young people.
