How-to guide
Scout Network Units
Scout Network is for members aged 18 to 25. It usually runs on its own, often across a County, Area, Region or District, rather than inside a Group. In Scout Suite that makes it a Scout Network Unit: a peer of a Group with its own dashboard, team and bank.
Watch this on its own pageCreate a Scout Network Unit
From the org switcher (top left, next to Scout Suite) or the Your Groups & Units page, choose Create Scout Network Unit. Give it a name and, if you like, a charity number and the County / Area / Region or District it belongs to.
There's no name tape, necker or badge to set up. Network doesn't wear group or unit identity, so those fields don't appear.
Didn't pick a County, Area, Region or District when you created it? Their admin can send the usual affiliation invite from their dashboard, the same as for a Group.
Add the Network section
Under Sections → Create Section, the type picker only offers Network, so there's nothing else to pick by mistake. Meeting night, time and place work the same as any other section.
NetworkExplorers moving on at 18
When an Explorer turns 18, their Explorer Unit or Group shares their record with the Network from the Moving on tab, and the Network adds them to its section. They can be in both while they settle in.
When they've moved on for good, send a transfer from the same tab so the Network owns the record.
Sharing a member with another group covers sharing in full.
It behaves like a Group everywhere else
Team, programme, events, badges, communications and finance all work the same as a Group's, against the Network section.
