Moving on and transfers
Linking is staying in two sections of the same organisation for a while. Transfer is the record changing home — another Group, a standalone Explorer Unit, or leaving Scout Suite entirely. Pick the path that matches where they are actually going.
Set as linking inside the same Group
On the section roster, choose Set as linking and pick the next section. They are added there and stay in the current section until someone moves or removes them. There is no end date and nothing auto-leaves them.
Both rosters show a Linking badge while they have two (or more) active section memberships in the Group.
Linking is not a transfer. They still belong to this organisation. Use it for the usual overlap while they try the next section.
Hard move to another section in the same Group
Use Move when they have finished with the current section. That closes their membership there and opens it in the destination. Same Group, one home section afterwards.
Transfer to another Scout Suite Group or Explorer Unit
On the young person's Moving on tab, search for the destination organisation and send a transfer request. The receiving team (anyone who can manage young people there) accepts or declines from Young People.
If you already belong to both organisations and you pick their destination section, it completes immediately — no waiting.
On accept, the same record moves: badges, contacts, medical details, consents and history stay attached. Invoices, payments and Gift Aid stay on the old organisation's books.
GroupsExplorersDestination is not on Scout Suite — download a leaving pack
If search finds nothing, or they are going somewhere that does not use Scout Suite, download the leaving pack from the same tab: a PDF to print and file, and a CSV to import.
The pack is this young person only — identity, contacts, medical and dietary, consents, section history, badges (awarded and in progress), and an attendance summary. It does not include other children or the Group's bank details.
