How-to guide
Finding your way round Settings
For anyone who looks after their Group's set-up. Open **Settings** at the bottom of the sidebar. You only see the pages your role lets you open.
Start on the Settings page
Settings opens on an overview. Each card is a page, with a line saying how it is set up today, for example which payment providers are connected, or how many automatic messages are switched off.
Not sure where something lives? Type in the search box at the top. Gift Aid, sender name or Microsoft each bring up the pages that deal with them.
The pages, and what they hold
Details: the Group's name, County and District, nation, charity number and Gift Aid, and its contact email and website. Uniform and badges: name tape, neckers, your badges and the investiture set.
Features: building maintenance, section badge stock and AI help with policies. Membership Portal: the consents parents are asked for.
Payments: Stripe, Square and GoCardless, how subs are billed, who pays card fees, and JustGiving. A Treasurer can change these. Transaction categories sits next to it. Plan and billing: your Scout Suite subscription, its card and invoices.
Messages: the sender name for texts, automatic messages and your Facebook Page. Phones and calling: the phone voice, call recording, dialling in by SIP, Microsoft Teams Direct Routing and Teams calling.
Sign-in and access: Microsoft 365 and other sign-in providers, and whether Scout Suite support may open your Group. Who gets told: who gets an email about new waiting list entries, enquiries, equipment and reported building problems. Import, Import from OSM, Data export, Audit log and Data reset are together under Data.
What the old names became
General settings is now four pages: Details, Uniform and badges, Features and Membership Portal. Financial connections is now Payments. Communication channels is now Messages. Telephony is now Phones and calling. Single sign-on is now Sign-in and access, and the Audit Log tab in Safety is now Audit log in Settings.
Old links and bookmarks still work. They open the new page.
What isn't in Settings
Team is still its own item in the sidebar, because it's where you invite people and give them roles. The Settings page links to it.
Your own email, password, notifications and app language are in your Profile, not in the Group's Settings.
A section's own settings, such as its meeting nights, capacity, calendar colour and where its young people move up to, are in the section: open it and choose Settings in its menu. Its Team Leaders can change them.
