How-to guide
Badge stock
Badge stock lives on the group's **Badge Stock** page. By default it's one figure for the whole group. An admin can turn on section stock so each section keeps its own.
Watch this on its own pageOne group figure to start
Each badge has one group figure until section stock is turned on. The Badge Stock page can't switch it on or off; it's a group setting.
Turn on section stock
In Edit Group, turn on Section stock. Only someone who can edit the group can change it. Each section can then record its own stock, and the total is the group's stock plus every section's: two in the group and one for Cubs is three.
With section stock on, a Team Leader sees only the badges for their sections and the stock their sections hold, and records stock for those sections. The group's own stock, and every section's, is for the Group Lead Volunteer and the quartermaster.
Turning it off keeps the total
Turning section stock off moves every section's stock back into the group's. The total doesn't change: three is still three, now held as one group figure.
Where awarding takes stock from
When you award a badge, Scout Suite takes it from the young person's section if that section has some, and otherwise from the group's stock.
Removing an award
Removing an award from a young person's record can put the badge back in stock. It goes back to the stock it was taken from, and the group's audit log records who removed it and why. A badge that had already been presented only goes back if you tick Return to stock?.
Print or download the list
Next to Download CSV, Print sends the list to your printer and Download PDF saves the same list as a PDF: what to order, what's running low, and every badge's stock by category, for the section and badge type you've filtered to. A Team Leader's list has only their own sections' stock.
